Do you know what the word, Advent means? Advent comes from the Latin word adventus, which means "coming". It is the four-week preparation period before Christmas that is to prepare our hearts and minds for the coming of Christ, both at his first coming as a child in Bethlehem, and the second at his second coming in glory.
So, as Advent is about to begin, let me ask you this. Have you given any thought to how you will prepare your heart and mind for Christmas? I’m not talking about the external activities….. the decorating, shopping/wrapping, baking and other traditions that we enjoy during this season. I’m talking about those things that we do that keep Christ at the forefront during this season and allow us to experience the very things that He came to give us. Love, Hope, Joy, Peace, Comfort
Sadly, I will admit that there have been years when the preparing of my heart and mind was not my first priority and the peace, comfort and joy that I was singing about were just words on a page. I basically missed the true meaning of Christmas. I have vowed to not allow that to happen again. This means that I have to be intentional with a few things. I will make a point to have my daily devotional time. I will make my Life Group and time in Sunday worship a priority. I will not over load my schedule to the point of exhaustion. I will not over spend so that I am still paying off Christmas in June. I will look for ways to bless others.... even if just a simple gesture like allowing someone to cut in front of me in line or traffic.
I hope that you will ensure ways for yourself and your family to prepare your hearts and minds to truly celebrate and experience the coming of Christmas!

FOR OUR COMMUNITY ~ The Giving Tree
The Giving Tree that is in the lobby is filled with cards that have an item on them that a child would like to have for Christmas. Every year we are blessed to be able help families in our community that need a little assistance during the holiday season in providing Christmas gifts for their family. If you would like to help out a family, take a card. All the details are on the back of the card.
Thank you in advance for helping with this outreach!
Join us this Sunday as we start our Advent series, Unwrapping the True Meaning of Christmas.
God Bless~Pastor Beth
