One of the tasks that I’ve been given to do as campus pastor is to write a weekly Blog. I have a few issues with this task. One being, that I am doubtful that I have that much to say on a weekly basis that people would want to read and secondly… it involves another area of technology that I need to navigate. I am technologically challenged; it doesn’t come naturally to me and I often feel inadequate. I am told that it will get easier and to keep at it . And lastly, its too one sided. It’s not conversational; there’s no feedback; I don’t even know if anyone’s reading it. So, here I sit.
So, for this week, I will gladly use this space and opportunity to tell you about the events and activities that are going on and how what we do as a church is making a difference in and for our community.
I want to thank all the volunteers that helped out on Movie night this past Friday. What made the evening so successful (Other than we had loads of fun and popcorn) was that we had twice the amount of kids that we had at our first movie. What I want to celebrate was that we had 4 unchurched families attend the movie. That's exactly why we had this event. We had an opportunity to tell them about NextGen and invite them back. That's the win!
I want to congratulate Michael and Lyla Gondolfo for winning the Stillwell's Gift Certificate for bringing the most friends and Sam Harrington for winning the FREE movie pass drawing.
Our last FREE Family Movie Night will be Aug. 25th at 7pm.
For Our Community- Opportunity to Help
We are joining with the Food Pantry in providing school supplies for those families in town that need a little assistance. ( Some suggestions: backpacks, markers, crayons, wide rule loose leaf paper, different colored note books, binders) If you would like to help, donations will be accepted through Aug 20th. If you would like to make a cash donation please make your check out to CARE ministry with School supplies in the memo line
Work Party on Wed Aug 2nd at 9am to clean out closets and general use areas.
One of our needs as we get ready for this fall is to purchase, build and paint materials that will transform the current space into an environment that is engaging and fun for kids. So, if you want to support our kids but don't necessarily have the extra time or energy to work with them, you can make a financial donation that will help us purchase what is needed. This can be done online under NextGen or in the offering on Sunday.
