I hope you all enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Day rejoicing in the presence of the newborn king. Having Christmas Eve on a Sunday this year made for a bit of a hectic day, but WOW the Spirit was certainly moving among us! As we gathered in both the morning and the evening to talk about birth, I couldn’t help but dwell on the ultimate promise God made to us through the gift of Jesus – new life. Now that promise certainly is a promise of a life beyond this one, greater than we can possibly ever imagine; but it is also the promise of a new life in Christ here, today on earth. It is the promise that no matter where we’ve been, no matter what we’ve done or how big of a mess we’ve made of things, Jesus can make all things new. Just as 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” When I think of the magnitude of this promise, my soul can’t help but rejoice with Mary in her song in Luke 1:49, “for the Mighty One has done great things for me - holy is his name.”
And speaking of celebrating the old passing away and the new coming - a party is coming to Rock Church Amesbury on Sunday morning to celebrate New Year’s Eve! Our schedule will remain the same with breakfast & LifeGroup @ 9am and Worship @ 10:10, but our theme all morning long will be one of celebration. I hope you’ll be able to join us to ring in the New Year (sort of)!
